Discover a day in the life of AT Management’s Grad Bay Manager.

Here at AT Management, we’re always on the lookout for individuals who are the perfect fit for a range of our data specialists jobs. While our frontline agents are the key to help implement effective revenue generation solutions, we would be nowhere without our strong management team.

To give you an insight into the important work conducted by our leadership team, we spoke to our Grad Bay Manager to find out what day-to-day life is like at ATM:

What initially appealed to you about working at ATM?

I was initially referred to the company by my friend who had started working there. They always spoke about the work environment being fun and that there was a friendly culture within the office which immediately made the role appeal to me.

Plus, I had never worked on the phones before so I saw this as an exciting challenge for me.

What does your role as the Manager of the Grad Bay entail?

I manage an area of the business called “Graduation Bay”. As the business is expanding, we are continually hiring new agents into the business and my role is to support the new recruits along the way. This includes helping individuals to develop necessary skills before they go onto the live sales floor.

Instead of new agents being given one week of training and left to it, they are supported by myself and my Senior Agent while gaining experience in a live sales training environment. I provide support by always being on-hand, conducting individual and group coaching sessions, providing extra training materials, and arranging ongoing coaching so that every agent can succeed in their role.

My role is to train agents as well as manage and set expectations for the role. Behind the scenes. I also ensure that the Grad Bay is running efficiently by liaising with different departments within the business.

Can you describe what a typical day looks like for you?

There is no typical day for Grad Bay! Everyday day is different as we are always hiring new agents, while others are “Graduating” to their new teams.

My days usually start with a morning meeting, during which I brief all agents on the targets for the day and highlight our top performers from the day/week before. I usually set incentives for the day as it creates friendly competition within the team and reinforces the fun environment which is massively important in this kind of role.

As the sales agents start their day, I start my coaching sessions. I’ll begin by listening to the agents and delivering feedback on what they are doing well and identifying areas of improvement. A big part of the Grad Bay is that we encourage the agents to be honest with what they struggle with so that we can work together. We also hold weekly 1-1 sessions which is a two-way conversation on performance.

In the afternoon, I go through quality feedback that I have received, talking through these separately with the individual agents. As we get to the end of the day, we have another team meeting to again recognise the agents who are performing well and suggesting how the team can improve the following day.

What have you learnt since you’ve begun working at ATM?

Since working at ATM, I have learnt that the opportunities for development within the company are definitely there and if you’re hungry enough, you can achieve it.

Regardless of whether you arrive at ATM as an excellent sales agent, or you’re just starting out, if you put the work in you will see the results. It has also helped me develop a thick skin which has been essential in my own personal development and growth.

What’s your favourite part about your role/working at ATM?

I love helping people so this is the perfect role for me. Seeing the new ways of training being implemented in the business and the positive impact it’s having on both new and existing team members is great. Every time I hear some positive feedback about an agent I have trained it makes me feel proud!

What is the senior team like at ATM?

The senior team at ATM is great. When I first became a manager, I felt fully supported by the other staff members and confident that I could turn to them for support when needed. The senior team are all working towards the same goal and therefore always willing to help each other.

Why would you encourage others to apply for a leadership role at ATM?

I would definitely encourage others to apply for leadership at ATM. It can be a challenging role but it is very rewarding which makes it so worthwhile. I get to help individuals in their own roles as well as working with the wider business to achieve targets. I am learning and improving myself everyday. There is definitely a sense of achievement after a challenging day which makes it all very rewarding.

What type of person is ATM looking to employ?

ATM believes that everyone has the chance to succeed. No matter what background you come from and what challenges you face, we have the resources to help everyone who comes through the door become their best selves. I believe the only thing you need to bring with you when you join the business is the attitude,  ATM will help you with everything else.
